At discrimination of Elizabethan racists is derived from fear

At the time of 1603, the English society was yet to be comfortable with the presence of a person of color. The only colored men they encountered were mostly slaves, which began around the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Slaves would obey every command given to them and were in no position of demanding. At this point in time people of color were being discriminated for their perceived differences.  In a great turn of events, Othello an ex-slave and now a general in the military is the exact opposite the world was use to seeing in a person of color. Many people in the play hated him for what he had been doing by defying the odds and demonstrating his worth. Shakespeare creates Othello to highlight the prevalences of racism in English society. The renaissance was a revolutionary time period for evolving society of the English. A technological shift from an old dark age to a more modern time influencing the views of many. It opened the eyes of many to a great new ordeal of things increasing their abilities to think more for themselves. Shakespeare, a vital ingredient in this movement changed the form of writing by increasing the number of genres people tend to read. The infectious discrimination of Elizabethan racists is derived from fear unnatural a racist’s hate plagues a vulnerable community of black slaves, with religion and war corrupting diverse cultures in the attempts to purify the existence of sin. This enlightening argument of what inspires William Shakespeare’s to compose the play Othello contaminates romantic relationships, before the integration of black-skinned people into Elizabethan culture. At the time, interracial relationships and marriage was unheard of that’s why when word of Othello and Desdemona’s love had spread to Barbantio, he did not know what to do. At first he did not believe such news, but after a while of Iago’s manipulation Barbantio had no other option but to believe him. At this point in the play is when racism started to play its part on Othello, many racist comments were made throughout the play by many of the characters like Iago, Brabantio, Roderigo, and Emilia.Othello is a nobleman, a decorated soldier, very well respected by his men (with the exception of Iago). One of the few characteristics that harms, rather than helps him, is that he is dark-skinned in a society utterly dominated by men prejudiced against those with dark skin. Othello was a man capable man of making at the start of the play, he appears confident that, “My parts, my title, and my perfect soul. Shall manifest me rightly. (Othello 1.2.36-7)”, when he is called in front of the court on charges of witchcraft. His credibility was challenged, due to the fact that he was colored because if he was a white man, his marriage with Desdemona would have never been a problem.
