INTRODUCTION:As the modern world continues to develop at an exponential rate, spiritual practices such as mindfulness and meditation have found their place within many aspects of our society. From further implementation in professional health fields, development of professional skills in adolescence, and the overall growth of social skills within our society, meditation has begun to merge into the mainstream of our current society. By analyzing the impacts of meditation, we can understand that the use of its practice must be supported in all aspects to encourage spiritual growth influencing the world around us. Understanding this, further research has been completed to understand the impacts of the modern world on meditation, as well as the impacts meditation has made on the world around us.Body Paragraph 1: Innovations of today allowing for meditation growthThrough innovations of our modern society, we’ve been able to implement and spread traditional practices such as mediation into mainstream culture. With uses of technologies such as virtual reality (VR) becoming accessible on a consumer level, even practices such as mindfulness can be adapted in a more modern aspect to gain appeal. In a recent project, researchers had mindfulness experts use a “virtual reality mindfulness” exercise to test its ability to be both useful and acceptable as an assistant to meditation. Focusing on the effect of meditation on individuals struggling with addiction, a recent article demonstrates the possible benefits of using mindfulness to treat psychological disorders.
